The entry list for Barons’ Classic, Collectors and Sports Cars sale at Sandown Park on Saturday October 28th is headed by some highly desirable motor cars, including a 1985 Ferrari 328 GTS which has covered just over 1,000 miles in the past 26 years – and less than 19,000 miles in total. This remarkably low mileage is documented via MOT certificates. Estimate: £65,000-£85,000.
Ferrari fans who miss out on the 328 GTS have another chance to secure a prancing horse at Sandown Park, with the beautifully-presented 1979 308 GTS (£47,000-£57,000).
Another bright red head-turner is the 1969 Porsche 911T 2.0L Karmann Coupe LHD. This ex-California car has undergone a meticulous, ground-up restoration. Presented in rare Polo Red paintwork, this superb machine carries an estimate of £70,000-£80,000. Porsche enthusiasts have two chances to secure a fine, red example of Stuttgart’s most famous model, with the highly original 1977 911S Targa 2.7 listed at £30,000-£40,000.
The Colour Of Choice
Red definitely seems to be something of a theme for Barons’ October 28 sale. The 1971 BMW 2002 (£8,000-£10,000), 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe (£14,000-£18,000), 1968 Ford Cortina Mk2 1600GT Crayford (£8,000-£11,000) and 1963 Ford Cortina GT (£14,000-£16,000) are all in shades of this eye-catching colour, as is the 1986 Bentley Turbo R (£7,000-£9,000).
The 2007 Bentley Continental GTC boasts gleaming Glacier white paintwork – but the stunning convertible’s roof and leather interior are red! The estimate for this magnificent motor car is £45,000-£55,000.
Collectors looking for a project to enjoy over the winter months can choose between the 3.4 litre 1966 Jaguar S-type with overdrive (£3,000-£6,000) and the 1990 Range Rover Vogue SE A Classic. The 4×4 has not been used on the road for many years but, as it’s served as a shooting brake on the vendor’s estate, it runs very well. It is in need of restoration and recommissioning and is offered at no reserve.
The sale also includes two very glamorous 1970s American cars. The 1979 Lincoln Continental MkV is presented in glorious Rose Pink. It has covered just 23,000 miles and has an estimate of £15,000-£18,000. Stutz Blackhawks were popular with stars such as Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr., and the gold example in Barons’ sale presents a great opportunity to acquire what is now a rare machine. Estimate: £19,000-£22,000.
