Hagerty International, the UK’s leading classic vehicle insurance specialist, honoured Sir Ray Tindle on the eve of the Veteran Car Run, the world’s longest running car event.
Hagerty, the official insurance partner of the annual event, presented the Hagerty London to Brighton Veteran Car Run Achievement Award at the Participant’s Cocktail Party held at the Royal Automobile Club on Saturday evening prior to the run. Tindle Newspapers’ representative Christopher Linton-Willoughby accepted the award on behalf of Sir Ray Tindle.
“Sir Ray’s involvement with the Veteran Car Run has helped the event become what it is today,” stated Angus Forsyth, Managing Director of Hagerty International. “His continued support of the Run as a sponsor, coupled with the fact that this will be his 50th entry into the Run should be recognised.”
“I am greatly honoured to accept this Award on behalf of Sir Ray Tindle”, said Christopher when presented with the silver trophy. “On behalf of Sir Ray and all participants, we all remain enormously grateful to all the companies involved in putting on this spectacular event. Sir Ray’s own involvement has given him years of pleasure and he is delighted to receive such a prestigious award.”
Sir Ray now joins past recipients of the Hagerty Veteran Car Run Achievement Award including Mrs Jutta Benz, Mr Evert Louwman and the dedicated team of volunteers and marshals of the event.
During the presentation of the Award, Forsyth also made special mention of the Veteran Car Club, the Royal Automobile Club and the Dating Committee for their exceptional dedication to ensure that a ‘full grid’ of Veteran cars returned year after year to enjoy the run to Brighton.
