After previewing the hatchback version of their next Impreza in Tokyo last month, Subaru announced that it will unveil a sedan iteration of the compact concept at the LA Auto Show on November 17.
The Subaru Impreza Concept will be in the same vein as the five-door model, with the teaser image showing a sporty roofline design with a sloped rear window that gives it a meaner appearance than the current model.
The rest of the vehicle looks identical to the hatchback that Subaru wants us to believe is very close to the production version of the next generation Impreza, set to go on sale in mid-to-late 2016.
Regardless of how close or distant the end-design will be for the next Impreza compared to these two studies, the compact model will be the first product to ride on the Japanese firm’s new and lighter “Global Platform” that will eventually underpin most of Subaru’s range.
It’s believed that Subaru is also developing a next-generation of boxer engines for the next Impreza, featuring both direct-injection and cylinder deactivation technologies for improved fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. It is possible that Subaru will shed some light on the new Impreza’s powertrains at the LA Show.
