Maranello Residents Complain About Ferrari Engine Noise

The sound of a roaring Ferrari engine may be thrilling for some, but for the Maranello residents, it’s not. The town of Maranello, located in Northern Italy, is famous due to the Ferrari S.p.A headquarters and the Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 team. Watching a spectacular Ferrari cruising around the streets of Maranello is not very surprising for the residents, instead it is becoming a problem now as the locals have complained that the engine noise from these sports cars is causing disturbance in their daily lives, especially around sleeping hours.

According to a CNBC report, the rental businesses in the town have around 37 Ferraris for tourist test drives. A standard 10 minute ride in the Ferrari F430 Spider, costs as low as $85, which is very affordable and the experience of driving this beast on the roads of Maranello is incomparable.

However, safety is an issue, as these sports cars are usually driven at high speeds. The test drives are usually accompanied by a professional race car driver, and though no accidents have been recorded until now, the police have fined around 305 people in the last five years, according to the statistics. Considering the situation, the town Mayor Massimiliano Morini stated that there are other vehicles too with powerful engine noises roaming around the streets of Maranello, and it has become a pain for those living nearby.

To take care of the situation, the Mayor has set rules; the test drives could take place only in specific times and they will not be allowed near the Ferrari Museum entrance, which is visited yearly by more than 300,000 visitors.

Hope this would give residents the sound sleep they have been deprived of for quite some time.
