Latest Performance Icons To Headline New Ford Show

Ford Focus RS

Two of the UK’s newest performance icons will be among the many attractions at The International Ford Show, which takes place at Sandown Park, Surrey, on April 30-May 1.

The newly launched right-hand-drive Ford Mustang and the recently revealed Focus RS will be appearing at the all-new event, meaning The International Ford Show will provide the first opportunity for many fans in the UK to see them in the metal.

Ford Mustang

The new Mustang, available in right-hand drive for the first time since the 1970s, draws on the retro styling cues of the original 1964 model and is available with a 2.3-litre EcoBoost or 5.0-litre V8 engine, both delivering impressive performance from the rear-wheel-drive chassis.

Meanwhile, the new all-wheel-drive Focus RS comes with a 350PS 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine and accelerates from 0-62 mph in just 4.7 seconds, with a  top speed of 167mph, making the rally-bred hot hatch one of the quickest Fords of all time.

Event Manager Katherine Chappell said: “The new Mustang and Focus RS are the very latest in a long line of iconic performance Fords, so to get them at the show is a real draw. It will give visitors the chance to see them in the metal for the very first time, alongside some of the most impressive historic performance Fords that went before them.”

The new models will form part of a remarkable celebration of classic and modern Fords that will include a special display to mark 40 years of the Fiesta, a special feature marking 50 years of the Essex V6 engine and a dedicated display of Ford’s performance ST models.

The indoor event will have TV Star Ant Anstead from For the Love of Cars as its guest of honour. Ant will be present on Saturday April 30 to answer visitors’ questions and talk about the series’ Mk1 Escort restoration.

In addition, the opening day will also see a dedicated Ford-only auction. Among the entries already received for The International Ford Show sale are an F-150 pick-up first owned by former England football captain, David Beckham, a super-rare Gran Torino Talladega Cobra Jet 428, a 1971 factory order right-hand-drive Mustang and a 26,000-mile from new Fiesta XR2. More details of the sale will be revealed in the run-up to the event.

Other highlights of the show will include premium trade stands from a variety of Ford experts and specialists. There will be live demonstrations throughout the day, along with a significant presence from two of the Ford scene’s most respected magazines – Classic Ford and Fast Ford.

Advance tickets are available now, priced at just £10 per person for single day access, or £20 for the weekend (up to two children below the age of 14 go free with each paying adult).
