The British automotive landscape witnessed a historic shift this week as JAECOO sales officially surpassed 33,000 units during the brand’s first 12 months of trading. Launched in January 2025, the adventure-focused marque has delivered one of the most decisive debut performances seen in over a decade, according to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
From 31 January 2025 to 31 January 2026, JAECOO recorded a total of 33,173 new vehicle registrations. This milestone firmly establishes JAECOO as the fastest-growing mainstream automotive brand the UK has seen in the past 10 years, outpacing several long-established competitors in record time.

JAECOO 7 Drives Unprecedented Retail Success
At the heart of the brand’s rapid ascent is the flagship JAECOO 7. The model finished its inaugural year with over 30,100 units sold, making it the most popular retail car in the UK for the final month of its first-year cycle.
The JAECOO 7’s appeal is largely driven by its diverse powertrain options. The Super Hybrid System (SHS), a plug-in hybrid technology, accounted for 70% of all JAECOO 7 sales in 2025. This allows drivers to enjoy 56 miles of pure EV range while maintaining the flexibility of a traditional engine for longer journeys.
Why UK Drivers are Choosing JAECOO
The growth of JAECOO sales isn’t just about the numbers; it’s about the “Total Package” offered to British consumers. Key factors contributing to this momentum include:
- Distinctive Design: The signature “waterfall” grille and rugged SUV proportions.
- Customer Confidence: A comprehensive 7-year/100,000-mile warranty as standard.
- Search Popularity: JAECOO became the most searched Chinese car brand on Google in 2025.
- Industry Awards: Named “Brand of the Year” at the 2026 Carwow Awards.
Expanding the JAECOO Sales Line-up for 2026
Following the success of the JAECOO 7, the brand has already begun broadening its reach. The introduction of the compact JAECOO 5 and the all-electric JAECOO E5 ensures the brand covers a wide range of powertrain needs.
Gary Lan, CEO of JAECOO UK, commented on the performance:
“Our first year has been about building trust through product and delivery. The response from private buyers has shown that our approach is resonating, giving us a solid foundation as we move into our second year.”
Looking Ahead: The Future of JAECOO Sales in the UK
Together with its sister brand OMODA, the group now represents 4.65% of the UK market share. With a dealer network already standing at 101 locations and the highly anticipated JAECOO 8 on the horizon for 2026, the brand’s “Enjoy Each Moment Outdoors” ethos is set to reach even more households this year.
As JAECOO enters its second year of trading, the focus remains on sustaining this momentum through continued investment in aftersales support and expanding the nationwide retail network.
