If you were rich and famous and could afford any car you wanted, what would you get? Fortunately for most of us, we aren’t taxed with these kinds of decisions. We have to work within things like “budgets” and make sure that our kids’ car seats will fit in our less-than-perfect dream mini-van. Celebrities have it tough. They not only have to find a vehicle that will get them from “here” to “there,” but it must make a statement and provide substance for us underlings to have something to aspire to. Who wants to be stuck with THAT job? Here are a few who are up for the challenge.
Kanye West
In 2010, Kanye West was given a $750,000 Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 for his 35th birthday from his girlfriend Kim Kardashian.
The car, which looks suspiciously like the Batmobile, was crushed in 2013 when getting trapped in Kardashian’s electric gates. Not to worry, the car got fixed up in no time.
Today, the “basic” 2014 version of the car retails for $397,500. It comes with a 6.5 liter V12 engine which translates to 690 horsepower and reaching 60 mph in less than three seconds with a top speed of 217 mph. However, the MPG is much less impressive:11 mph in the city and 17 mpg on the highway.
David Beckham
Keeping up with soccer player David Beckham can be a real chore. He has apparently grown tired of his 2008 one-of-a-kind Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe Convertible DUB seen here.
The car featured a TV-DVD entertainment system in the back for his children, beautiful teak decking, cream-colored leather interior, and a 453 horsepower, 6.75-liter V12 engine. It was on sale for $399,888. No word on how much he actually got out of the deal.
Drake
Starting in 2005, Volkswagen has only produced 15 units of the Bugatti Veyron Sang Noir each year. Rapper star, Drake, is one of the proud owners (or was one of the proud owners) of the 2011 edition.
Everything is black on the outside, but the inside features a bright orange interior. The car set the singer back $3.4 million.
Today’s version can shift between automatic and semiautomatic in less than 150 milliseconds. The top speed is 253.81 mph and accelerates from 0-62 mph in 2.46 seconds. The prices for the Bugatti falls between $1,495,000 and $1,695,000. The cost of the tires alone run about $25,000.
Justin Bieber
Justin Bieber’s “ridiculously shiny” Fisker Karma is a hybrid luxury sports car that costs more than $100,000.
Though, Bieber didn’t need to sweat the price tag as the vehicle was a gift from his manager, Scooter Braun when Bieber turned 18. Fisker Automotive stopped production of its cars in 2012 and later filed for bankruptcy. The typical sports sedan came with a 2-liter turbo-charged combustion engine with two 161 horsepower electric motors. The MPG for the car was 52 in all-electric mode and 20 mpg in gasoline-only mode.
Nicki Minaj
Never to be seen as a wallflower, rapper Nicki Minaj purchased this Barbie-pink Lamborghini Aventador for about $400,000 in 2013.
This ride is not her only Pepto Bismol-colored vehicle either. She also owns a Bentley Continental and a Range Rover. The “basic” 2014 version of the car retails for $397,500.00, but if you want your’s in pink, it’s going to cost a bit more.
It comes with a 6.5 liter V12 engine which translates to 690 horsepower and reaching 60 mph in less than three seconds with a top speed of 217 mph. However, the MPG is much less impressive:11 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway.
Beyonce
This might be a surprise. Singer Beyonce prefers the classic over the contemporary with her 1959 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II.
She received the vehicle as a gift for her 25th birthday from husband, Jay Z. The estimated cost of the dream car is $1 million.
The older car comes with a blue leather interior, a 6.2-liter engine but is a little slower than her fellow singer’s cars. It goes from 0 to 60 mph in 10.9 seconds. The Silver Cloud II was produced from 1959-1962 followed by the Silver Cloud III from 1963-1966.
Jennifer Lopez
Just as it is hard to decipher the rumors of the on-again, off-again romance between Jennifer Lopez and dancer Casper Smart, there is a mystery on who exactly owns the Bentley Continental GTC they have been seen riding around in.
The convertible can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 5.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 189.5 mph (it can up to 195 mph with the roof up!). The 2015 version of the Bentley Continental comes with a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter W-12 engine. The cost of a new one runs anywhere from $206,300 to $250,000. The car gets only about 12 MPG in the city and 24 on the highway.
Michael Jordan
Michael Jordan’s 2007 Mercedes Benz SLR 722 is something else.
It came with an engine that was rated 650 PS with 640 horsepower and a top sped of 209 mph which, at the time, was about 1.9 mph faster than the standard SLR.
The car can go from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.6 seconds. In contrast, the 2015 SL550 Roadster has a starting price at $108,050, has a 4.6-liter bit turbo V-8 engine, 449 horsepower and can accelerated from 0-60 in 4.5 seconds.
Adam Levine
Adam Levine, Maroon 5 frontman singer and guest judge on The Voice likes his Porsche 356 with its classic black exterior and maroon-colored, (naturally), leather interior.
The vehicle was produced from 1948 to 1965 and it is said that it took a little while for it to “catch on” with drivers. In the 60s, the Porsche 356 would have sold for about $4,000, but today, the collector’s item can go as high as $300,000. Today, a new Porsche can range from $49,900 to an unbelievable $845,000!
George Clooney
If you are George Clooney, you can drive any car you want and what he prefers is his classic red and white C1 Corvette.
The first C1 Corvette was priced at $3,498 in 1953. Of course, that was the entry level price and more than likely, Clooney’s car is a bit nicer. In contrast, the 2015 Corvette has an eight-speed automatic transmission option,650 horsepower, a 4G LTE data connection and mobile Wi-Fi hotspot capability and can retail anywhere from $54,000 to $83,000.
