The Ford Ranger has won both the Pick-up of the Year and the overall Commercial Vehicle of the Year trophies at the 2013 Fleet Van Awards. Ford was also awarded the title of Green Manufacturer of the Year to make it a triple success for the company.

The Fleet Van award winners are selected using criteria key to van operators, including fitness for purpose, overall running costs and driver appeal.

The Ford Ranger claimed victory in its category and was ranked overall number one by Fleet Van; praising its range of cab options, choice of efficient engines, payload and towing ability, equipment levels and vehicle appearance.

Stephen Briers, Fleet Van editor, said: “The annual Fleet Van Awards have seen another strong year of entries from Ford’s commercial vehicle range. Ford Ranger winning Commercial Vehicle of the Year 2013 is testament to its excellent quality, running costs and ability, fending off stiff competition in this year’s awards.”

Ford of Britain fleet director, Kevin Griffin, said: “The awards are coming thick and fast for Ford’s commercial vehicle range, with the Ranger leading the charge. As Ford’s vehicle portfolio continues to grow in size and quality, with more fuel-efficient engines and smart technology, we are looking forward to 2013.”

The new Ford Ranger is offered in three versatile cab bodystyles – Double, Super and Regular – that are among the roomiest in its class; comes with a choice of two powerful and economical Duratorq TDCi engines, and with a choice of 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains. It delivers more payload and class-leading towing capability; along with innovative comfort and driver assistance features; and is the first such vehicle ever to achieve a five-star Euro NCAP rating.

The new Ford Ranger has won six awards so far this year, including the sought-after “International Pick-Up Award 2013”. Other international awards that Ford has scooped include the “International Van of the Year 2013” for the all-new Transit Custom; and the 2012 “International Engine of the Year” with the 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine.
